Phil and Jenny were the perfect hosts whilst we holidayed with 11 family members celebrating a retirement .
The house is very well equipped and very well proportioned , plenty of things to do for children , there is a games room with air hockey , pool table , large chess set , playstation , tv , and a relaxing area for adults there too .
Inside the kitchen was well equipped and plenty big enough for all 11 .
The lounge has many comfy sofas and lots of films to watch if the weather is not too brilliant !!
The games room was used alot with knockout snooker most nights whilst enjoying a pint or glass of vino !! Wifi was hit with 2 teenagers too !
Outside the hot tub was used every day and at night with a glass of champange too add to the experience ! saw shooting one night , the sky is very clear as there is not much light pollution .
The pool was used by the children in the family too. We relaxed on the many provided very comfortable sun loungers weather permitting !
Phil couldn’t do enough to help if there was a problem , anything from the best routes to travel , from printing out boarding cards for the homeward journey .
Last but not least i have to praise Jenny on her lovely little salon she has on site too, what a little gem! I had an indian back massage the first week and i can honestly say that i have never had one before , but she got rid of all my stress and knots in my shoulders. The second week i had reflexology done which never having had this done before was a very pleasant treatment too , at one point i actually felt so relaxed that i felt like i was falling into the bed !! Thanks to Phil and Jenny for letting us use your lovely holiday home .
Also thanks must go to my sister and brother-in-law for taking us.
What a great venue for a family get together, loads of large bedrooms, all ensuite, fabulous kitchen with all amenities, lovely sittin room, separate bar area and huge games room. Big enough to all find our own space but cosy with it. Had a fabulous time, mixed weather but managed to use the pool and hot tub. There was plenty of parking, (you do need a car) and had fun exploring the local villages and towns. Great markets nearby and easy to get to the coast. Can highly recommend this for several families, or like us, a family reunion.
We arrived on the first day later than we expected and were greeted with Jenny and Phil who are very friendly and welcoming and were extremely helpful throughout the stay. They told us where the nearest towns for shops were. We were shown round the farmhouse and grounds by Jenny and Phil and they explained everything about the farmhouse to us. The farmhouse itself is amazing, full of character and plenty of space for large groups and families. The outdoor pool and hot tub are fantastic and the gardens are a great place to spend a day in the sun. There are plenty of games to keep children and adults amused. The kitchen has everything you could ever need and more.
During our stay we had a problem with one of the cars, Phil took the time to help us try and get this fixed. He recommended garages nearby and on a number of occasions took one of us to and from the garage taking time out of his own schedule.
There was also a problem with the same persons ferry booking, again, both Jenny and Phil took the time to look for alternative crossings and booked it for them, just a couple of examples of how helpful they both are.
The massages provided by Jenny are incredible, you definitely get value for money. There is a wide range of treatments and the environment in which you have the treatments is tranquil and calm. Jenny is very flexible with the timings of the treatments and does her best to fit it in around you.
The area around the farmhouse is beautiful countryside with plenty of walks and cycle routes. The town of Mohon is about a five minute drive with a bar and the town of Josselin which has everything you need as about a 15 minute drive.
We started looking at dates for next year staying here the same night we got home, it was an incredible family holiday which we plan on doing year on year here, couldn’t recommend it enough, thank you Jenny and Phil hope to see you again soon.
Arrived late greeted by Phil & Jenny who were very welcoming . They could not do enough to make our holiday go smoothly . Our car was not running right it was not too much trouble for phil to help sort out a garage to look at the car so thankful to him . The kitchen was so well stocked everything you needed was there . Had a massage it was that good I had to have another one very reasonable . And a big thank you to phil and jenny for sorting out our ferry back it was so much better from St Malo to Portsmouth . Lovely holiday .
What a wonderful getaway in the middle of Brittany! We arrived late after a long drive on a cold wet day and our wonderful hosts Phil and Jenny greeted us with a hotmeal and the fire going in the lounge, this was the start to a fantastic stay at ‘ The old farmhouse’.
Located in the center of Brittany, it is the perfect spot for day tripping around and visiting all that the area has to offer, all within a short drive are the historic towns of Vannes and Josselin to name a few. The accommodation is French farm rustic and very comfortable with the added bonus of ‘hot tub’ and swimming pool outside in the garden and games room plus bar for your use.
The Farmhouse has stereos, widescreen tvs and wifi everything you need to enjoy an entertaining evening.
We enjoyed the local bars and restaurants and live entertainment the area has to offer but most of all the quiet of the surrounding countryside.
Next time we visit will be in Summer to enjoy the pool and bbq.
We recently returned from a two week holiday at The Old Farmhouse and we cannot recommend it highly enough! As an extended family of sixteen including nine children of differing ages it was fantastic for all of us. Phil and Jenny were lovely welcoming hosts and went out of their way to be as helpful as possible. They gave us advice about the best places to visit and shop and left us a well-stocked fridge of beer and wine for our arrival, which was great as we arrived late into the evening. The farmhouse suited our needs perfectly, it was like a home from home with everything you need to feel comfortable. All bedrooms are ensuite which gives you privacy especially for large groups like us! The house is spacious with a well-stocked kitchen and large dining area located in the bar area, which was a great novelty for everyone and included a full-sized pool table! Outside will not disappoint either with the large pool and hot tub and the lovely pristine gardens and patio areas which is great for a BBQ or just relaxing. The gardens and pool area are enclosed so you can let your children play without worrying. There is also a fantastic games room which has something for everyone to enjoy! The surrounding area has some stunning places to visit (Josselin is very near which has excellent places to eat and is beautiful). To sum up, please do visit this wonderful place, you will not be disappointed!
An amazing farmhouse in an amazing location. Huge thanks to owners Phil and Jenny for a fantastic 2 weeks. The farmhouse is beautifully decorated with great facilities. The kids loved the outside pool and the games room. Phil and Jenny were on hand to give advice/tips of where to go for days out. Very sad when the holiday came to and end and would not hesitate to recommend it. Would love to go back. A very definite 10 out of 10.
Our extended family – all three generations of it- absolutely loved The Old Famrhouse. It was pretty cold when we got there so we had the heaters running most evenings, but the wood burner in the living room was lovely (and we didn’t have to pay extra like some other properties we looked at). The games room got plenty of use, as did the bar and pool table (which is bigger than the one pictured). The hot tub was ready when we got there.
The owners – Phil and Jenny are both lovely, friendly and approachable. They explained how to use everything and gave us lots of advice before and during our stay regarding shopping (ie. Everything is closed on sundays), days out etc. There was plenty of space for the ten of us without it feeling too big, and I imagine it would be fine with twice as many.
All rooms are en-suite which was great, and we had no problems with plumbing (such as a previous reviewer had). We had a couple of powercuts when we had lots of electric heaters running at the same time as the washing machine, but the owners sorted it out straight away.
Wifi was only available in the games room, which is locked at night so as not to disturb anyone, however this was not a problem for us. (I had no problem using my mobile network out there.) Though the owners’ accomodation was above the games room and next to some of our rooms, the walls are plenty thick enough and the close proximity did not affect our privacy.
Due to nature of the house, the stairs leading up to some of the bedrooms were quite steep and narrow, and one set wasn’t particularly even. This didn’t cause us too many problems, however they might be more difficult for those with mobility problems or children. The trick is to take them slowly and not be holding two suitcases!
I treated myself to a massage and that too was lovely, as well as a fraction of the price I’d pay back home!
This house was fantastic value for money, and it is easy to get to the most popular places to visit from Mohon. I would strongly recommend this house to friends and family!
We arrived early on the Saturday morning from the ferry, Phil & Jenny were very accommodating and allowed us to leave our luggage at the house, and go off for the day while they cleaned & prepared for us.
They made us aware that most places were closed on Sunday and we would need to get some shopping in on that day and directed us to the nearest town and gave us directions for the supermarket.
On our arrival back at the house, everything was clean, nicely presented and smelled lovely due to attention to detail with air fresh units in most rooms.
The kitchen was beautifully equipped in my husbands opinion (he is a chef by trade) and they have catered for children of most ages, from little tykes play cars in the garden, to table tennis, pool table, chess, play station, swimming pool, etc. one thing we can note is that the games room is through a separate entrance, therefore children go out of the main house door and just across the driveway to the games room, it’s very safe, however useful to know if you have ‘very’ little ones that you would probably want to accompany them, however for us that wasn’t an issue as our children are older. However please note that hot tub is for children over 14 only. There is also a field opposite the house, where children can play football or run around.
Wifi is available, however this is in the games room only, don’t come expecting a work/holiday or teens who depend on the internet, unless you want to spend your holiday in the games room as the house walls are too thick for the wifi signal to extend to that.
The house itself is beautiful and full of character, very quiet and rural setting, in warm weather keep doors closed as much as possible to minimise flies.
Phil and Jenny are lovely people who live above the property (they have a separate entrance) and are usually around most of the day, should you have any queries or comments.
A most relaxing holiday, enjoyed feeding the chickens and would recommend to large families, or people who enjoy plenty of space.
We visited the Old Farmhouse as 4 families with young children. The old farmhouse ticks all the boxes for groups…. plenty of bedrooms (all with ensuite which is great), an enclosed outdoor space with nowhere for the little ones to escape. A gated pool which again, is great and safe for little ones. We had a mixture of weather…. lovely garden, pool, hot tub and BBQ when sunny. When confined to being indoors, the place is so big there’s lots of room for kids to play, adults to socialise and place to escape for some privacy. Kitchen is well equiped with large oven etc so has everything a family would need. There’s ample parking at the front too. We loved popping to local bakeries in the mornings for fresh croissants.. yum yum. Lots of towns etc to visit including Josselin, where there is a good carrefour supermarket for groceries. Activity lake nearby and the most fantastic beach at Quiberon…. quite a drive at 1hr 30mins, but well worth it. Beach at Carnac also lovely. The really good thing about this place is that it is fantastic value for money, bearing in mind the space and facilities you get. Just sorting out our booking for 2014….8 adults and 8 kids….. its going to be great!
