We arrived early on the Saturday morning from the ferry, Phil & Jenny were very accommodating and allowed us to leave our luggage at the house, and go off for the day while they cleaned & prepared for us.
They made us aware that most places were closed on Sunday and we would need to get some shopping in on that day and directed us to the nearest town and gave us directions for the supermarket.
On our arrival back at the house, everything was clean, nicely presented and smelled lovely due to attention to detail with air fresh units in most rooms.
The kitchen was beautifully equipped in my husbands opinion (he is a chef by trade) and they have catered for children of most ages, from little tykes play cars in the garden, to table tennis, pool table, chess, play station, swimming pool, etc. one thing we can note is that the games room is through a separate entrance, therefore children go out of the main house door and just across the driveway to the games room, it’s very safe, however useful to know if you have ‘very’ little ones that you would probably want to accompany them, however for us that wasn’t an issue as our children are older. However please note that hot tub is for children over 14 only. There is also a field opposite the house, where children can play football or run around.
Wifi is available, however this is in the games room only, don’t come expecting a work/holiday or teens who depend on the internet, unless you want to spend your holiday in the games room as the house walls are too thick for the wifi signal to extend to that.
The house itself is beautiful and full of character, very quiet and rural setting, in warm weather keep doors closed as much as possible to minimise flies.
Phil and Jenny are lovely people who live above the property (they have a separate entrance) and are usually around most of the day, should you have any queries or comments.
A most relaxing holiday, enjoyed feeding the chickens and would recommend to large families, or people who enjoy plenty of space.
We visited the Old Farmhouse as 4 families with young children. The old farmhouse ticks all the boxes for groups…. plenty of bedrooms (all with ensuite which is great), an enclosed outdoor space with nowhere for the little ones to escape. A gated pool which again, is great and safe for little ones. We had a mixture of weather…. lovely garden, pool, hot tub and BBQ when sunny. When confined to being indoors, the place is so big there’s lots of room for kids to play, adults to socialise and place to escape for some privacy. Kitchen is well equiped with large oven etc so has everything a family would need. There’s ample parking at the front too. We loved popping to local bakeries in the mornings for fresh croissants.. yum yum. Lots of towns etc to visit including Josselin, where there is a good carrefour supermarket for groceries. Activity lake nearby and the most fantastic beach at Quiberon…. quite a drive at 1hr 30mins, but well worth it. Beach at Carnac also lovely. The really good thing about this place is that it is fantastic value for money, bearing in mind the space and facilities you get. Just sorting out our booking for 2014….8 adults and 8 kids….. its going to be great!
Phil and Jenny were the perfect hosts whilst we holidayed with 11 family members celebrating a retirement .
The house is very well equipped and very well proportioned , plenty of things to do for children , there is a games room with air hockey , pool table , large chess set , playstation , tv , and a relaxing area for adults there too .
Inside the kitchen was well equipped and plenty big enough for all 11 .
The lounge has many comfy sofas and lots of films to watch if the weather is not too brilliant !!
The games room was used alot with knockout snooker most nights whilst enjoying a pint or glass of vino !! Wifi was hit with 2 teenagers too !
Outside the hot tub was used every day and at night with a glass of champange too add to the experience ! saw shooting one night , the sky is very clear as there is not much light pollution .
The pool was used by the children in the family too. We relaxed on the many provided very comfortable sun loungers weather permitting !
Phil couldn’t do enough to help if there was a problem , anything from the best routes to travel , from printing out boarding cards for the homeward journey .
Last but not least i have to praise Jenny on her lovely little salon she has on site too, what a little gem! I had an indian back massage the first week and i can honestly say that i have never had one before , but she got rid of all my stress and knots in my shoulders. The second week i had reflexology done which never having had this done before was a very pleasant treatment too , at one point i actually felt so relaxed that i felt like i was falling into the bed !! Thanks to Phil and Jenny for letting us use your lovely holiday home .
Also thanks must go to my sister and brother-in-law for taking us.
